Hi everyone!
That’s me checking in for Day 2.
I had a bad start to the day, as one of my twin daughters had a temperature this morning, and so needed a lot of TLC (and Calpol!). I had the working mum’s dilema of whether or not to send my sick child to nursery or not. I did suggest to her that I would just go to work later and phone Papa to come and collect her. However, both her and her twin sister were adamant that they wanted to go to nursery.
Anyway, I spent so much time trying to spoon cereal down my sick daughter’s throat that I had no time to make my own breakfast.
Once I arrived at work, I had a Green Tea with Cranberry and two oatcakes.
Mid morning, I made my porridge in the office kitchen. I had porridge with soya milk, honey and raisins, and it was delicious! My colleagues remarked on how good it smelled!
One of my colleagues, Rosie, admitted to feeling a little self-conscious, when going into the work fridge to retrieve her pain au chocolat. She had noticed all the healthy goodies that I’d stashed in there, and here she was with her multi-pack of pastries!
For lunch, I had carrot batons with red pepper humous and a green salad, followed by a nectarine.
Later in the afternoon I had a rice cake with peanut butter, followed by a plum for a snack. I also had a cup of Redbush tea. I hadn’t had peanut butter for years, and I couldn’t quite remember how much I liked it. I thoroughly enjoyed it today. Suprisingly, it was a very tasty snack!
Thursday evenings are always hectic for our family, as it is the night of the girls’ dancing class. I have to leave work early and put the girls’ dinner on before their Papa brings them home. I wasn’t sure whether to send them to dance class, seeing as they both had a cold. However, they really wanted to go, and Rachel had perked up a little from the morning, so I took them along int their regular clothes (and ballet slippers) rather than their little skimpy leotards. (It’s soooo cold here today!)
Anyway, Daddy always meets us at class, as he heads there straight from work. After leaving the girls dancing happily with their friends, my hubby announced that was going to collect an Indian meal for us from the take-away on across from the dance class. (Aaaaargh!!)
“Ha! Ha! Very funny!” I say.
“What do you mean?” he asks, looking puzzled, “I ordered it before you arrived.”
“But I’m on my detox diet!” I wailed, “Why did you do that?!”
“Oh sorry! I forgot.” he replies, rather sheepishly. (Aaaaaargh!!)
Anyway, I can proudly say that I did not yield to temptation. My husband had to eat the entire delicious-smelling pack of goodies on his own. I disappeared into the kitchen to prepare my healthy meal as planned.
I had a jacket potato with a drizzle of olive oil, a bean burger/patty with a dollop of pureed tomato and a huge salad. It was tasty. However, I could smell my husband’s food and it did smell soooo good!!
Oh well, Day 2 and my first major temptation over. I feel quite proud of myself for not succumbing to the temptation of mixed pakora, etc..
My hubby does feel suitably guilty.
Thanks for visiting!
